Police Log: Cyclist struck at Deer Valley roundabout; chicken comes through car window; and fireworks thrown from vehicle

Park City police officers responded to a 65-year-old woman who was hit by a car while biking through the Deer Valley roundabout. Other reports included a vehicle speeding through a local neighborhood throwing fireworks out their windows, and a driver who reported someone threw a piece of chicken into their open car window.

Multiple disturbances of the peace were also reported this week, along with a few hit-and-runs and suspicious persons on Main Street.

Monday, Sept. 14

Incident: Property damage
A vehicle was reportedly involved in a hit-and-run at the 7-Eleven on Sidewinder Drive. The other vehicle was described as a truck with a landscaping trailer.

Incident: Business assist
Bank security requested extra patrols around the bank on Park Avenue because the power was out.

Incident: Traffic hazard
A rockslide on Wheaton Way just off Marsac Avenue left rocks about the size of footballs in the roadway.

Incident: Welfare check
A man was reported sleeping near the frontage road west of U.S. 40. He was described as wearing a gray beanie, flannel shirt, and long shorts and having a reddish-brown beard.

Tuesday, Sept. 15

Incident: Graffiti
A utility box near the baseball field bathrooms on Kearns Boulevard was reported tagged.

Incident: Traffic stop
A driver was stopped for operating a motor vehicle in a bicycle lane on SR 248.

Incident: Vagrancy
A client reported that a person had been sleeping in the back entryway of a business on Sidewinder Drive. The individual was no longer there when police were contacted.

Incident: Suspicious activity
A caller reported a man in a black trench coat on Main Street who was not doing anything suspicious but could be aggressive. The caller said the man had not made any threats and no weapons were seen.

Wednesday, Sept. 16

Incident: Business assist
A bus broke down at Snow Park Lodge, and officers were asked to assist with traffic control.

Incident: Traffic hazard
Glass was reported in the roadway near Monitor Drive and Lucky John Drive, possibly left from an earlier accident.

Incident: Illegal dumping
House insulation was reported dumped on the lawn of the park near Wyatt Earp Drive.

Thursday, Sept. 17

Incident: Theft
A caller reported that several chairs from her yard had been stolen sometime between late July and early August.

Incident: Suspicious activity
A resident reported a strong smell of marijuana throughout the Aspen Springs neighborhood. The caller noted an event was taking place at Rotary Park and believed the smell could be coming from there.

Incident: Traffic stop
A driver was stopped after failing to remain within a single lane on SR 248. The vehicle reportedly drifted onto the shoulder by about half its width.

Friday, Sept. 18

Incident: Citizen assist
A resident reported an ongoing issue with a neighbor allowing a dog to run off leash. The caller said he encountered the neighbor while walking his own dog on a leash.

Incident: Suspicious activity
A resident was contacted by his landscapers, who reported a broken window at his home. The resident was concerned someone had broken into the house.

Incident: Wildlife problem
A deer was reported stuck in a fence on American Saddler Drive.

Incident: Citizen assist
A caller reported vehicles repeatedly parking in a lot owned by the Kimball Arts Center and the Boneyard despite notices being left on the vehicles.

Incident: Citizen dispute
A caller reported a dispute with another man after he sneezed and sniffled and the other man placed a tissue box in front of him after being asked to stop.

Incident: Suspicious activity
A caller reported that a strange man had walked into the store on Main Street where their daughter works. The daughter then stopped answering her phone, and no description of the man was available.

Incident: Traffic complaint
A Tesla was reportedly speeding and passing vehicles over a double yellow line on Guardsman Pass. The caller described the driving as extremely unsafe.

Incident: Citizen assist
A man was reported selling food from his vehicle in a parking lot on Homestake Road. The caller said the activity was not allowed by the HOA.

Saturday, Sept. 19

Incident: Harassment
A caller reported that a neighbor was harassing his employees while they were trying to work.

Incident: Parking problem
About 15 cars were reported illegally parked along the road at the top of Guardsman Pass.

Incident: Business assist
A man at the No Name Saloon reportedly refused to leave.

Sunday, Sept. 20

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported four or five people making noise in a pool on Prospector Avenue and keeping him awake after quiet hours began.

Incident: Non-injury accident
A vehicle traveling uphill on Marsac Avenue was reportedly struck by a vehicle traveling downhill. No injuries were reported.

Incident: Traffic complaint
A caller reported that someone threw a piece of chicken through his vehicle window near Park Avenue and Kearns Boulevard. No damage was reported.

Incident: Injury accident
A 65-year-old woman riding a bicycle was struck by a vehicle at the Deer Valley roundabout.

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported a large party at a neighboring home, with about 40 people attending.

Incident: Juvenile problem
A minivan and SUV were reportedly driving through a neighborhood near American Saddler Drive, with occupants yelling and throwing fireworks from the vehicles.

Incident: Suspicious activity
A woman who was out of town reported that her Ring camera showed someone on a bicycle near her residence and garage.
