UDOT plans I-80, US-40 ramp improvements near Kimball Junction

PARK CITY, Utah — The Utah Department of Transportation is planning improvements to the eastbound Interstate 80 ramp to U.S. Highway 40 near Kimball Junction, including a new merge lane extending to Silver Summit.
UDOT will host an open house Oct. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Basin Recreation Fieldhouse to share the proposed improvements and traffic analysis with the public.
The most significant part of the project would add a 12-foot eastbound merge lane from Kimball Junction to Silver Summit to improve traffic flow and safety, according to UDOT.
Other planned upgrades include new overhead signage, improved drainage, better snow removal and additional lighting along the I-80 eastbound to US-40 interchange ramp.
The project is currently in the design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027.

The Oct. 13 open house will be an informal, drop-in event.
