Main Street closure shifts as water line work progresses
PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Main Street’s Phase II of its water line replacement project continues to progress, with crews now focusing on the stretch from 5th Street to the top of Main Street at its intersection with Swede Alley.
As of Tuesday, October 15, work is concentrated near the Main Street and 4th Street intersection. City officials anticipate this section will be completed within days, allowing for the reopening of Main Street between 5th and 4th Streets.
Starting today, Main Street from 4th Street to Swede Alley will be closed during work hours, reopening for traffic and parking after hours.
The ongoing work has prompted several traffic changes. The one-way traffic on 5th Street is expected to return to its standard westbound direction once crews move past 4th Street. Additionally, 4th and 5th Streets west of Main Street will be closed to through traffic from now until November 20.
Despite the closures, the city maintains that access for delivery and emergency vehicles will remain in place. The trolley service continues to operate on a detour route.
To mitigate inconvenience for visitors and residents, all Old Town parking remains free for the duration of the project.
The water line replacement project, which includes updating the main line, fire lines, and water services, is a key infrastructure upgrade for Park City’s historic district.
