Buck Basin Fire grows to 170 acres, smoke visible across Wasatch and Summit Counties

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A lightning-caused fire burning in Wasatch County has grown to 170 acres as of Monday morning, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
The Buck Basin Fire began Saturday evening in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The fire grew to 30 acres Sunday, burning batches of timber and prompting public smoke advisories for both Wasatch and Summit Counties.
Wasatch Emergency Management has noted that there are no reported threats to structures or communities at this time.
The U.S. Forest Service closed Red Creek Mountain Road for public safety and fire response.
Residents who observe drift smoke are asked not to report a fire to emergency dispatch unless they see flames or a defined smoke column. There are no active fires in Summit County.
