PARK CITY, Utah – The Kimball Art Center will open the 2025 Wasatch Back Student Art Show on March 7, showcasing artwork from K-12 students in Summit and Wasatch counties. The annual exhibition, highlighting young artists’ creativity and expression, will remain on display through May 18.

This year’s theme, “Earthen Forms,” encourages students to explore clay and other earth-based materials in their artistic practice. The exhibition will feature a range of interpretations, from textured ceramic sculptures to two-dimensional works reflecting natural elements.
“Each year, the Wasatch Back Student Art Show provides an inspiring glimpse into the creativity, perspective and imagination of our community’s young artists,” said Heather Stamenov, education director at Kimball Art Center. “This year’s theme has encouraged students to engage with clay as an art form, experiment with materials derived from our earth and discover new ways to express themselves artistically.”

“The Wasatch Back Student Art Show is such a special experience because every student gets to see their artwork displayed in a gallery setting,” said Robin Moses of Park City Day School. “Watching them point out their creations to family members, and hearing them talk about their artistic choices is a reminder of why art education is so important. It’s not just about technique—it’s about confidence, self-expression, and the joy of creating something uniquely their own.”
Moses continued, “The theme this year of ‘Earthen Forms’ was particularly meaningful because Park City Day School centers itself on interdisciplinary connections. Our process in creation was directly related to their science studies with Ms. Andrea Hoppe. Our ceramics program is robust, and we are thrilled to be able to exhibit the thoughtful creations alongside such talented artists.”
The student exhibition will be presented alongside “Traces,” a showcase of work by female ceramicists exploring themes of history, identity, and storytelling. The dual exhibition aims to highlight ceramics’ versatility and expose students to established artists working in the medium.
