Snowmobile driver killed in crash near Strawberry Reservoir

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — Christopher P. Brown, age 44 of Farmington, has been identified as the individual killed in a snowmobile crash on SR-40 on Jan. 14.
According to a statement from the Utah Department of Public Safety, Brown was traveling with a group of snowmobilers who had parked in the Chicken Creek parking area at approximately 8:40 p.m.
The group was attempting to recover a snowmobile near Strawberry Reservoir that was experiencing mechanical issues.
The snowmobilers began crossing SR-40 from the Chicken Creek parking area at the same time as a double tank crude hauler semi was traveling eastbound.
Brown attempted to accelerate across SR-40, but made contact with the pup trailer. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
SR-40 was closed for approximately three hours while authorities investigated the crash.
