Fisherman rescued after being stranded at Strawberry Reservoir

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah – An ice fisherman was rescued last night after being stranded on the Strawberry Reservoir in white out conditions.

The man was ice fishing with a group on Friday, who all returned to shore while the man remained fishing in the tent.

The group attempted to return back to the tent to reach him, but were unable to as their snowmobiles became stuck.

Wasatch County Search and Rescue cooperated with the Strawberry Reservoir State Park Rangers to eventually reach the man and to bring him safely back to shore.

The man’s group eventually became unstuck and were able to safely return to the shore as well.

Wasatch County Search and Rescue also dealt with several stranded motorists traveling through the areas surrounding the Strawberry Reservoir, and advised the public to proceed with caution traveling on highway U.S.-40 due to the extreme winter weather conditions.
