Microtransit returns to the Wasatch Back

PARK CITY, Utah — As of last week, High Valley Transit’s Microtransit program has returned throughout the Wasatch Back.

This free on-demand service is intended to bridge the gap between the bus stop and resident’s doorsteps.

Micro is designed to seamlessly navigate the Wasatch Back, including the Jeremy Ranch, Silver Springs, Park City, and Heber Valley areas. Through the High Valley Transit app, riders can easily book rides and be picked up at a nearby corner in one of High Valley Transit’s branded minivans.

Micro is short for microtransit. It’s a fancy word for the concept of on-demand transit, which means booking rides minutes before you’re ready to travel and riding in a smaller vehicle (like a minivan). It’s basically a minibus that takes you where you want, when you want. Most passengers wait between 5 to 15 minutes, although during busy times, wait times may be slightly longer. You can add up to 3 additional passengers (total of 4) on each ride.

Microtransit offers free rides in three zones seven days a week.

  • Summit County Zone: 5 a.m. – 1 a.m.
  • Park City Zones: 6:30 a.m. – 12 a.m.
  • Heber Valley Zone: 5 a.m. – 10 p.m.
