Moose stops for a swim at Deer Valley’s Pebble Beach

PARK CITY, Utah — A adult male moose decided it didn’t need a paddleboard to enjoy a day on the water at Deer Valley.

A reader recently submitted a video of a moose wandering near Deer Valley’s paddleboard rental at Pebble Beach, where guests can rent stand-up paddleboards and head out onto the water.

But rather than trying out a paddleboard, the moose opted for a more traditional approach.

It went swimming.

According to the reader, the moose hung around for about a half hour, swimming across the pond before stopping to munch on some bushes. It then returned to the water for two more swims.

The reader said seeing a moose checking out the paddleboard rentals was a first, particularly during the rental operation’s working hours, which run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Deer Valley offers paddleboard rentals at Pebble Beach during the summer, giving visitors a chance to get out on the water with views of the surrounding mountains.

The sighting is another reminder that even in the middle of a busy summer recreation area, wildlife can make an appearance.
