In August 1890, John Wesley Powell warned a Senate committee about potential water mismanagement in the western United States. “There is not sufficient water to supply these lands,” he said. Powell knew the area well, he was the leader of the first government-sponsored passage through the Grand Canyon in 1869, where he traveled for three months along the Green and Colorado rivers. He also served as the second director of the U.S. Geological Survey.
A moose charged a teenager at Pinebrook Park over the weekend. Due to drought conditions this summer, people may see more moose in urban areas. Always give the moose a lot of space, watch its behavior, and never try to approach.
