Park City gala raises funds for female athletes with disabilities

PARK CITY, Utah — Four-time Paralympian Danelle Umstead and the Sisters In Sports Foundation will hold their annual gala Sept. 26 at the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley to raise money for female athletes with disabilities locally and across the country.

After a busy winter at the 2026 Paralympics in Milan Cortina, Park City’s Umstead, a three-time Paralympic medalist, will host the foundation’s fourth annual gala. This year’s event, “Beyond the Finish Line,” comes as the organization looks ahead to supporting athletes pursuing opportunities to represent the United States at the LA28 Paralympic Games.

Tickets and tables for the gala are available online. Those who can’t attend can also support Sisters In Sports Foundation by donating directly online.

“I’m not asking people to figure out funding this movement alone. Sometimes I need some help opening doors I can’t always open by myself,” Umstead told TownLift. “This event funds the grants, mental wellness, mentorship, leadership programs, and community we provide our girls all year.

“Let’s keep building this for them. I believe so deeply in these girls and in what SIS is becoming, and I appreciate how the Park City community keeps showing up for them. More than a dozen of our SIS athletes will be there alongside Olympians, Paralympians, business and community leaders. We’ve built an incredible night. The venue is beautiful, the program is powerful, and I know that once people are in that room and meet these women, they’re going to understand why SIS matters.”

Paralympian Oksana Masters is also a co-founder of Sisters In Sports. Masters is a nine-time Paralympian with more than 25 Paralympic medals.

The evening will include an athlete meet-and-greet, silent auction, chef-prepared dinner, hosted wine and bar service, athlete storytelling and a live auction.

The event will also feature Olympic- and Paralympic-inspired pin trading, which organizers describe as one of the foundation’s favorite traditions. Guests will receive a Sisters In Sports pin bag and starter pins and will be encouraged to trade with other attendees. One special pin will also come with a prize.
