One dead, three hospitalized after boat overturns at Echo Reservoir

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — One person died and three others were hospitalized Sunday after a fishing boat overturned at Echo Reservoir, according to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 11:30 a.m. from someone recreating at the reservoir who reported finding an overturned fishing boat that was sinking, with four people in the water.
The caller and members of their group were able to pull all four people from the water and transport them to shore, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
One of the four individuals, a 46-year-old male from Davis County, was pronounced dead at the reservoir after live saving efforts were unsuccessful. The other three — two adults and one juvenile — were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating what caused the boat to overturn.
