Wasatch Trails Foundation completes new trail around Midway Reservoir

MIDWAY, Utah — A new trail circling Midway Reservoir is now open to the public, just in time for the upcoming fall season, according to the Wasatch Trails Foundation.

The foundation’s trail crew worked with the Wasatch Mountain State Park to build the easy, half-mile high alpine walking loop through the aspen groves surrounding the reservoir.

Mia Yue, director of Wasatch Trails Foundation, said there was already a walking path from the parking lot on the East side of the reservoir, and the state park manager wanted to extend the path to encircle the whole water body.

Along with the trail, there is a new picnic area courtesy of a Midway TAP Tax grant awarded to Friends of Wasatch Mountain State Park, according to Yue.

Moose and deer are frequently in the area, and officials remind visitors to remain wildlife aware.
