Singletrack Shindig to celebrate trails for hikers, runners and bikers

HEBER CITY, Utah – Hikers, runners and mountain bikers will share the trails Oct. 17 at the Singletrack Shindig, Wasatch Trails Foundation’s biggest annual trail party. a

For the first time, the party is designed for every type of trail user. The foundation’s biggest event of the year runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Springer Hollow Group Campsite in Wasatch Mountain State Park, which will serve as home base for the day’s races, rides and hikes.

“We’re so stoked! In past seasons, we catered more to intermediate and advanced MTB folks because of our previous partnerships. This year, we’re taking it on ourselves and are thrilled to welcome all types of trail users to the Wasatch Mountain State Park for our annual trail party.”

The day kicks off with a 5K trail race. Check-in opens at 8 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m. Top finishers will take home prizes from local companies, including a pair of Norda running shoes from Rendezvous Run in Park City, a hydration pack from Salt Lake City-based Pingora Gear and sunglasses.

Mountain bikers can catch shuttles to the WOW and WHOA trails, which will run until 3 p.m. For riders who would rather skip the shuttle, Women MTB will lead beginner to intermediate group rides and a skills clinic at set times throughout the day. The rides and clinic are open to everyone.

Kathy Donnell, lead naturalist and ranger for Wasatch Mountain State Park, will guide a nature hike.

Between activities, attendees can relax in a beer garden sponsored by Heber Valley Brewing Company, play lawn games and listen to live local music. Food trucks will include Yeti Bowls, serving acai bowls, and The Pizza Yard, with coffee from Storyboard.

General admission is $20, and admission with shuttle access is $35. Every registration includes an event T-shirt, a metal tumbler and a koozie.

Register for the event online, and race registration is available at raceentry.com/singletrack-shindig-5k.

“Come hike, run and ride with us,” Yue said.
