PC MARC pools heat up this summer with mermaids, movies and a DJ pool party for tweens

PARK CITY, Utah — The newly rebuilt pools at the Park City Municipal Athletic and Recreation Center are getting a workout this summer, with a slate of themed events aimed at getting kids of all ages in the water.

Leading the charge is the Mystic Mermaid Pool Party, debuting Friday, June 26, from 10:30 a.m. to noon for ages 3 to 9. Swimmers will dive for “gems,” join mermaid-led games and earn a shell necklace to take home, with mermaid-inspired swimsuits encouraged (tails provided). Tickets run $10 for the 20-person event, which spills into the Party Room and is nearing capacity. Anyone who can’t snag a spot this Friday will get another shot, with two more sessions set for July 17 and Aug. 14.

The party is part of a broader push to get families into the MARC’s new pools, said Jessi Fey, assistant aquatics director. “These kinds of programs, along with events like our DJ Drop the Beat Pool Parties and MARC Movie Nights, are designed to celebrate our new pools, build confidence through water play, and bring kids and families together at the PC MARC.”

For those who don’t make it into the pool this Friday, the magic continues that same morning with a screening of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” on the upper turf by the pool, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Guests can swim or float beforehand, then settle in with a chair or blanket for movie night under the stars. Open to ages 6 and up, the screening costs $5, with limited spots available.

Tweens get their turn starting Friday, July 17. Drop the Beat brings a live DJ, swimming, dancing and snacks to ages 10 to 14 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., with a second session following Aug. 14. Early registration is recommended, as space is limited.
