Police Log: Multiple winter storm incidents and wildlife encounters reported

Monday, February 16
Incident: Wildlife problem
A large herd of elk was reported near SR-248 at Quinn’s Junction, with several animals crossing fencing and approaching the roadway.
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller renting a residence on Main Street reported loud music with heavy bass coming from the area late at night.
Tuesday, February 17
Incident: Parking problem
Vehicles parked on both sides of Norfolk Avenue were reported blocking snowplows ahead of an approaching storm.
Incident: Business assist
A male was reported lingering inside a 7-11 on Sidewinder Drive stating he had nowhere else to go. He was not reported to be aggressive.
Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller reported a television blasting loudly overnight on Main Street.
Incident: Traffic hazard
A stalled city bus on Deer Valley Drive created a traffic hazard before returning to the bus facility.
Wednesday, February 18
Incident: Traffic hazard
A semi-truck with a flatbed appeared stuck at the Round Valley Drive roundabout near Park City Medical Center.
Incident: Traffic hazard
A beer delivery truck struck a pole near Main Street and Swede Alley, blocking traffic.
Incident: Weather-related accidents
Multiple slide-offs and non-injury accidents were reported throughout Park City as a snowstorm created slick and hazardous road conditions. Multiple incidents reported along SR-224 and SR-248.
Incident: Wildlife problem
Approximately 100 elk were reported approaching traffic near Solamere Drive and Deer Valley Drive.
Incident: Business assist
A transient male in the Transit Center was reported as a welfare concern due to inadequate clothing.
Incident: Theft (auto)
A black Ski-Doo snowmobile was reported stolen from the bus stop area near Montage on Marsac Avenue.
Incident: Traffic stop
A driver with an obstructed California license plate was stopped on Main Street and cited for using a phone and recording video while driving in snowy conditions.
Thursday, February 19
Incident: Vagrancy
A male was reported living inside a Main Street bathroom.
Incident: Citizen assist
A husband and son were reported locked inside their vehicle near the Boneyard on Bonanza Drive after the caller accidentally took the phone containing the digital key.
Incident: Citizen assist
A caller reported several individuals sledding and throwing snowballs near her Woodside Avenue residence. They were not on her property.
Incident: Juvenile problem
Parking services reported juveniles throwing snowballs at vehicles near Hillside Avenue and Marsac Avenue. Officers were unable to locate them.
Incident: Business assist
A Main Street business reported a male who spat in a doorman’s face after being denied entry.
Incident: Aggravated assault
Deputies responded to an assault call where a construction worker punched a co-worker during a verbal argument, knocking out two front teeth. The suspect was arrested for aggravated assault.
Friday, February 20
Incident: Wildlife problem
A herd of elk crossed SR-248 near Richardson Flat, temporarily stopping traffic.
Incident: Wildlife problem
A wounded deer was reported in a backyard on Lakeview Drive with an apparent leg injury.
Incident: Wildlife problem
A moose was reported near Park Avenue and Deer Valley Drive with bystanders approaching too closely.
Saturday, February 21
Incident: Wildlife problem
A moose was reported lying in a parking lot on Iron Horse Drive.
Incident: Wildlife problem
A deceased moose calf was reported approximately 250 yards down the Daly Trail from the trailhead.
