Do you want fries with that? Montage Deer Valley’s $1,876 Burger Experience
PARK CITY, Utah — Montage Deer Valley is known for its hospitality and opulence, and it may have outdone itself. Montage Deer Valley, in partnership with Burns Saddlery, has crafted what might be the world’s most exclusive burger experience—a gastronomic decadence and Western heritage that comes with a price tag of $1,876.
Here’s what’s included in this experience: “An elevated burger unlike any other, including A5 wagyu steak/golden osetra caviar/tempura king crab & asparagus white truffle brie/gold leaf bun/béarnaise sauce. The second part of your experience will take you to Burns Saddlery, established in 1876, the oldest, family-owned Western retailer in the world, where you will create your own custom hat.”
“The 1876 Burger at Montage Deer Valley is all about celebrating Park City’s rich flavors with a touch of indulgence,” said Kevin Hee, Executive Chef at Montage Deer Valley. “We wanted to create a dining experience that truly embodies our regional heritage with an elevated twist, which inspired the burger’s luxe combination… Each ingredient reflects our dedication to quality and crafting an experience that’s as much about where we are as what’s on the plate.”
If that isn’t enough, Yellowstone Select Bourbon, Krug Grande Cuvee Champagne, and a Padron Anniversario 1964 Cigar are also included with the price tag. The price point of $1,876 references both Burns Saddlery’s founding year and the meal’s cost, creating a narrative thread that ties the experience together.
On a following day of their choosing, the guest and any companions are whisked away in a Montage SUV to the Burns Cowboy Shop on Historic Main Street. As the oldest family-owned Western retailer in the world, Burns Saddlery brings authenticity to this luxury experience that no amount of gold leaf could match.
“No one does it quite like us,” said Jake Quarnberg with Burns. “[Hats] are made just a couple hours away from here, down in Salina, Utah, where all the raw materials are brought in. We start with a flat open hat, then modify the brim, crown, everything custom right in front of the guest to their preferences.”
Beyond the burger, what makes this experience special is its permanence. As Quarnberg said, “The food wears off, the buzz wears off… but they’ve got the hat for the rest of their life.” The experience includes lifetime service for the hat—cleaning, touch-ups, and even sweatband replacement. “It’s a lifetime service that they can have… we’ll take care of you for as long as you have that Burns hat.”
Quarnberg also emphasized that the guest will always walk out with a hat. There’s no weeks-long waiting period. Everything is done in-store and in real time.
“Putting a custom hat on does something to somebody,” Quarnberg said. “It makes them stand a little taller, and it puts a little bit of a swagger in your step. You feel like a new person.”
This collaboration between two of Park City’s most renowned establishments offers something truly unique. As Burns Saddlery puts it, “When people come to Park City, those experiences like that are really what they want to have—something unique and different that they can’t have anywhere else.”
For those seeking to elevate their Park City experience beyond the ordinary, the 1876 Burger Experience offers a taste of luxury that’s uniquely Western, undeniably memorable, and impossible to replicate anywhere else in the world. As guests return to the Montage in their chauffeured SUV, new custom hat proudly perched on their head, they’re not just taking home a meal memory—they’re taking home an heirloom piece—and its story—that will last for generations.
