Police Log: Deer tied up and dragged behind car in DUI offense

Friday, Sept. 6: Public Intoxication

Deputies responded to a service call outside an Arby’s regarding an unconscious man found lying face down. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the man was highly intoxicated. Nearby, his wife was located, showing signs of being a domestic violence victim. After the man was medically cleared, he was arrested for public intoxication and domestic violence assault.

Saturday, Sept. 7: DUI

Deputies responded to a residence on North Sagebrook Drive for a report of an unwanted person. Upon arrival, they made contact with a heavily intoxicated man who had been driving a vehicle. A DUI investigation revealed multiple signs of impairment, and the man was subsequently arrested for DUI.

Monday, Sept. 9: Possession of Methamphetamine

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling westbound on I-80 without visible registration. Following a K9 deployment, a search of the vehicle was conducted, leading to the discovery of a user amount of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Tuesday, Sept. 10: DUI

Deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident on Whitney Road. Upon arrival, they found the driver, the sole occupant, to be intoxicated. After performing poorly on field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested and transported to jail without incident. A deceased doe deer was discovered tied to the rear bumper of the vehicle, appearing to have been dragged for some distance. The Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) was contacted regarding a potential wildlife violation.

Thursday, Sept. 12: Vehicular Theft

The complainant reported that a male had made a reservation with Enterprise rental cars using an IP address linked to previous rental vehicle thefts. The male was able to secure a rental vehicle before the suspicious IP address was identified. When Enterprise contacted him to return the vehicle, he refused. The vehicle was then considered stolen and listed in the NCIC database. The stolen vehicle was found a day later at a condo complex in Herriman.

Friday, Sept. 13: DUI

A Deputy observed a vehicle on Interstate 84 near Henefer speeding and failing to maintain its lane. After initiating a traffic stop, the Deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the male driver. The driver agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was arrested for DUI and several other moving violations. Moore’s Towing impounded the vehicle, and the driver’s two children, who were in the car with him, were released to a family member.
