Winter’s comeback: Park City anticipates major snowfall over next 10 days

Parkites should look for 2-5 inches in the Park City Mountain ranges on Friday, with a second system moving in late Saturday to early Sunday, adding 6-11 inches to what falls on Friday

PARK CITY, Utah — After nearly 4 weeks with little to no snowfall and the snowpack getting dangerously close to a 43 year low, winter marks its triumphant return this week. Fri Jan. 5 through Sunday, Park City Mountain is forecast to receive 9″ of new snow and 8″ at Deer Valley. Topping the charts is Snowbird with 27″ and Alta with 22″ through Sunday.

Powderchasers says to look for 2-5 inches in the Park City Mountain ranges on Friday, with a second system moving in late Saturday to early Sunday, adding 6-11 inches to what falls on Friday.

Longer-term, we are looking at a few more storm systems stacking up nicely for Park City with snow in the forecast from Jan. 9 – 14. Current models suggest several more feet of snow possible, with OpenSnow calling for 26″ out of this next cycle.

Overall, the trend for January looks like we are back in the flow, so fingers crossed these storms materialize and we get winter back on track!
