First responders reunite with young man who suffered cardiac arrest

PARK CITY, Utah — Local first responders were reunited today with a young man whose life they saved late last week.

According to the Park City Fire Department, multiple local agencies responded to reports of a young man in full cardiac arrest on Sept. 22. Summit County emergency dispatchers were able to instruct the young man’s mother through CPR steps while the Fire Department, Airmed and law enforcement made their way to the scene.

Upon arrival, the agencies were able to administer advanced cardiac life support measures, and the patient was flown to Primary Children’s Hospital.

The young man made a full recovery with no neurological deficit — and he and his family were able to meet the first responders involved, six days after the incident.

“It’s nice to see the results of all our training, preplanning, and medical control. We have extensively worked with all our partners to ensure rapid transport and continuation of care all the way to the hospital,” said Fire Department Chief Max Dosher.
