39-year-old Summit County man and dog die in crash on Weber Canyon Road

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – The Summit County Sheriff’s Office received a tip of a flipped car located near 4300 E. Weber Canyon Road on July 20 at 6:12 a.m. A neighboring construction worker noticed the wrecked truck and called for assistance. A Summit County man, 39, was found dead inside the car when deputies arrived. Along with the owner, a dog was discovered dead at the scene.

Authorities believe that when the man crashed, he was heading west on Weber Canyon Road in the direction of Oakley. Evidence found at the site indicates that the man was moving quickly when he struggled to navigate a bend in the road. The car swerved off the road, plummeted over the Weber River, and landed on the river bank upside down. The crash’s exact time has not been determined.

It is currently unknown if any additional circumstances played a role in the deadly accident. Law enforcement officers from the Utah Highway Patrol are examining the crash site.

The male’s identity won’t be made public until the family gets a chance to tell loved ones. We extend our profound sympathies to the deceased’s family and friends.
