Hunter accidentally shoots son-in-law during Wasatch County hunting trip

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — A hunting trip Saturday ended with a man accidentally shooting his 28-year-old son-in-law while putting away his rifle, according to Wasatch County Search and Rescue.
First responders were notified of the incident shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, prompting responders from Wasatch and Summit counties to mobilize to the remote location. Several hunters in the area also stopped to assist.
The man who was shot was alert and awake when responders arrived, according to Wasatch County Search and Rescue. After being treated and stabilized at the scene, he was transported by medical helicopter to a nearby hospital.
“Please be safe out there and remember to always practice firearm safety while hunting,” Wasatch County Search and Rescue said.
