Canice Harte wins Democratic nomination for Summit County Council seat E

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — At the Summit County Democrats’ Convention on Saturday, former Snyderville Basin planning commissioner Canice Harte received more than 60% of the delegate vote, officially making him the party’s nominee over former Deer Valley VP of marketing Coleen Reardon.

“I am honored and humbled by the support and I vow to represent all of Summit County as I move forward in the election process,” Harte told TownLift Saturday.

“Thank you to the Democratic Party and all the delegates who voted. I would also like to thank Coleen for her campaign and I look forward to working together in the future.”

Additionally, Cindy Marchant Keyes received more than 60% of the delegate vote, ousting incumbent county auditor Michael Howard.

The convention was virtual and an online voting system called Election Buddy was used. There was a 99% turnout of county delegates, according to Katy Owens, the chair of Summit County Democrats.

For Summit County Council seat E, Harte will face libertarian Park City resident Michael Franchek, and either Francis Mayor Byron Ames or John “Jack” Murphy — both are Republicans. The Republican Convention in Summit County is set to take place next weekend.

For county council seat D, incumbent Democrat Chris Robinson’s sole competitor is Republican Holly McClure.
