Weekend temps in the Wasatch Back expected to hit the 60s

PARK CITY, Utah — Hotter temperatures are set to hit Utah this weekend as temperatures in the low 60s will settle into Summit County.

The state could potentially break records for the month of March according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Salt Lake City.

“Under building high pressure, afternoon high temperatures today will average 15-20 degrees above seasonal normals, challenging daily temperature records for the date,” NWS said.

“Temperatures will warm further over the weekend, challenging all-time record highs for the month of March,” NWS continued.

In Salt Lake City, a record high that has stood for 127 years could fall on Sunday as a high-pressure system moves east through the state, bringing dry conditions. St. George is forecast for 87 degrees on Saturday, which would break the all-time mark set in 1956.

Despite the warm weather, a cold front is expected to arrive late by Tuesday.
