Park City resident Mikayla Willis critically injured in ski accident at Freeride World Tour Qualifiers
BIG SKY, Montana — Park City resident Mikayla Willis was critically injured while competing in the Freeride World Qualifiers in Big Sky, Montana, on Wednesday, March 23.
She was taken by ambulance and two life flights to get to St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, Montana.
Willis suffered severe injuries, including a shattered skull, broken nose, broken L2 vertebra in the back, fractured hips, and lacerations on her face. Willis has undergone one surgery and will be in the ICU for several weeks.
Due to being in Montana at the time of her accident, Willis’s family insurance policy is stating the coverage is ‘out of network.’
A Go Fund Me page is live to offset the medical costs to the family, and they are hoping the community can come together to help during this difficult time.
Before her accident, Willis took first place in the qualifiers on March 22 in Big Sky.
