Anna Hoffmann places 37th in women’s Olympic ski jump

BEIJING — On Saturday afternoon the women’s ski jumping final concluded with U.S. Ski jumper and University of Utah student Anna Hoffmann finishing 37th overall.

As the sole representative of the United States women’s ski jumping team, Hoffmann recorded a jump of 64.5 meters at the Zhangjiakou National Ski Jumping Centre. Unfortunately for Hoffmann however, her score of 36.2 points registered outside of the top 30 which disqualified her for the final.

Despite the outcome, Hoffmann remained positive and grateful for a chance to realize and experience her childhood dreams.

“I had an amazing time competing here in Beijing and am so glad I got the chance to experience this,” Hoffmann said in an interview. “I’m so glad to say I have finally achieved a childhood dream. Thank you to my mom and dad for always having my back and to my coaches, Blake Hughes, Anders Johnson, and Trevor Edlund for teaching me how to be an elite athlete.”
