18-year-old dies in crash on state Route 32 near Kamas

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — An 18-year-old man died Thursday in a crash on state Route 32 near Kamas, according to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP).

The incident happened around 4:30 pm. UHP said a Subaru traveling southbound spun into oncoming traffic and crashed into an Audi traveling northbound.

The man that died was traveling in the Subaru and was not wearing a seatbelt. The man has not been identified. The driver of the Audi suffered minor injuries.

State Route 32 was closed for some time on Thursday as troopers investigated the crash.

“We as members of South Summit fire Department see and deal with these types of tragedies far too often. They are tragic and devastating to the families and community,” the South Summit Fire District said in a post. “Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this and other similar events. We will always be here to do our best to aid and minimize the pain and suffering the best we can. Please be careful in all that you do.”
