Coalville’s local treasure Bunny’s is on the market
COALVILLE, Utah. — Bunny’s Club, the longstanding watering hole for Coalville locals is on the market. 36 S Main Street in Coalville has been run by Andrea Hewson for the past 21 years and before that a string of owners up to its founder, Kenneth “Bunny” Downs.
When asked what Hewson would like her legacy to be she said, “I want my legacy to be that [Bunny’s] welcomes everyone: local and stranger. We do our best to take care of them and remember what they like, and just provide that sense of being known. It’s like the Cheers TV show is what that bar is like.”
Locals and tourists have gathered at Bunny’s for about 85 years for cold beers and good company. When you visit Bunny’s you’ll find dollar bills on the ceiling and historical photos and memorabilia decorating the walls.
“Anyone looking to become a large part of the community should look at this place because they’re going to have a lot of effect on the future of what happens here,” said Hewson. “It’s been my pleasure to make [Bunny’s] somewhere that yes, it’s a bar, but it’s where people go and that’s the best part about it. It’s where everybody goes when they feel good, feel bad, for funerals or weddings.”
