Park City Schools push back first day to Monday, August 23

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City School District announced on Monday that the first day of school will be pushed back to Monday, August 23 for all K-12 students.

The changes were due to the ongoing evacuation order for the Parley’s Canyon Fire.

The first day was initially set to be this Thursday, August 19.

Elementary School Meet and Greet will still be held on Tuesday, August 17 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm.

Friday, March 11 will shift from a teacher workshop to an in-person learning day.

The last day of school will remain Friday, June 3, 2022.

“Thank you to all for your support, encouragement, and care of one another as we navigate challenges associated with this longer than anticipated evacuation from our neighborhood homes,” Jill Gildea, Superintendent of Schools, said in a press release.

“With a large number of patrons visiting the school in a short period of time, we appreciate your support in adhering to best practices to mitigate COVID including use of hand sanitizer and consideration of donning a facemask for that short visit.”
