Love where you live? Help clean up
PARK CITY, Utah. — April 22 is Earth Day, and one way to celebrate is by stepping outdoors and out of routines to tend this small speck on the globe.
“One of my favorite ways to build community and show my love and appreciation for this beautiful place we call home is by cleaning up trash – especially in the spring,” said longtime local Mary Christa Smith.
She put out a call to action in the community asking for like-minded souls to join her in an Earth Day spring cleanup.
“In honor of Mother Earth and appreciation for our blessed water ways, I invite you to join in and put your love of Park City into action by picking up along your favorite trails and roadways,” she said.
Manually cleaning up what others may have discarded improperly can be an effective teaching tool for children in particular – but everyone can benefit from a hands-on reminder of how trash negatively impacts nature.
Join Smith in Prospector on April 24th, 10am-noon in the parking lot behind Freshies to pick up along 248 by the high school, Prospector and the Rail Trail – maybe even up to City Park. Recycle Utah will provide a limited number of pickers.
Residents can also organize their own neighborhood pick-ups – Recycle Utah has pickers available to borrow. Contact Eric Moldenhauer at Recycle Utah to borrow their pickers at outreach@recycleutah.org
