Ice Miners on thin ice after second loss at nationals.

OMAHA, Nebraska. — The Park City Ice Miners Division 1 high school hockey team is battling its way through the national championships tournament. Glenelg High School, out of Maryland, outplayed the Miners 2 to 5 on Saturday.

The team regrouped after yesterday’s game, which ended in an ‘L’ for the team despite 11 shots on goal. The Miners sat through 10 minutes of penalties for five infractions yesterday.

While some athletes only learn of their qualification into nationals mere days prior to competition, the Ice Miners had closer to a month to revel in their upward mobility and to train ahead of the big trip.

Games can be viewed on Hockey TV.

They play the third and final pool-play game tomorrow against the formidable Edina team from Minnesota, hoping to advance further into the elimination brackets phase of the USA Hockey tournament.
