PCHS Miners football falls to Salem Hills High 14-7

PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City High School varsity football team lost to Salem Hills High School with a final score of 14 – 7 on Friday night.

Traveling in from Utah County for the 4A matchup, the now 3-2 Skyhawks win over the now 1-4 Miners was played at the partially completed Dozier Field. Food trucks and student cheering sections put Parkites on a path to being excited for the season and the rebuilt facility.

Last week Park City won their first game of the year.

This week marked the first home game of the season played at Park City High.

Park City’s quarterback, senior Josh Hofer, ran the ball across the line to score a touchdown early on, giving Park City the first-quarter lead.

The Miners’ defense delivered a masterful first-half performance, completely disrupting the Skyhawks’ offensive rhythm to force consecutive punts and maintain a clean sheet deep into the second quarter.

However, their dominant stretch was undone by a stroke of bad luck with just one second remaining before halftime when Salem Hills’ Reggie Smith scooped up a loose fumble and dashed 75 yards for a game-tying touchdown. Despite the sudden, heartbreaking shift in momentum, the Park City defensive unit remained resilient, keeping the team within striking distance by limiting a potent Skyhawks offense to a single traditional touchdown drive for the remainder of the evening.

Next up, Park City travels to Utah County to take on Provo High School Friday.
