Park City football returns home Friday despite ongoing campus construction

PARK CITY, Utah — Park City High School football will return to Dozier Field on Friday night for its first home game of the season, even as construction continues across the school campus.

The Miners will host Salem Hills on Friday, Sept. 11, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Gates will open at 6 p.m.

Park City School District announced Wednesday that the game can move forward at home. Still, fans should expect limited access, reduced seating, and changes to parking and stadium circulation because of the active construction zone.

The main front gate at Dozier Field will be the only entrance. Fans may park in the nearby Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints parking lot, but the stadium’s back gate near that lot will remain closed. Spectators parking there will need to walk around to the main entrance.

The district encourages fans to arrive early to allow extra time for parking and walking to the stadium.

Seating will also be limited. Only the lower bleachers on the home side will be available, while the upper bleachers will remain closed. Home-side seating will be on concrete, and the district encouraged spectators to bring padded stadium seats or cushions.

Movement around the stadium will be restricted because of the construction zone. The district said there will be no open areas for children or spectators to gather or run around before, during, or after the game, and attendees are being asked to stay within designated seating and walkway areas.

New restrooms on the east side of the stadium will be open, and food trucks will be available during the game.

The home opener comes as Park City High School continues construction work that has affected access to athletic facilities this season.

Despite the temporary restrictions, district officials said the team and coaching staff are looking forward to playing in front of a home crowd.

“We are so grateful to be able to host our community for a home game and can’t wait for a great night of Park City football,” the district said in its announcement.

Park City enters Friday’s game against Salem Hills following a 33-28 road win over Mountain View in Orem.
