PCHS Miners earn first win, defeat Mountain View 33-28

OREM, Utah — Park City High School football earned its first win of the season Friday night, defeating Mountain View 33-28 on the road in Orem.

The victory moved the Miners to 1-3 overall and 1-0 in Region 8 play.

Junior Johnny Hemmesch delivered one of the game’s biggest defensive plays late in the second quarter, intercepting a Mountain View pass and returning it 61 yards for a touchdown. The score gave Park City a 26-14 lead heading into halftime.

Sophomore Sully Pate also recorded an interception for the Miners.

Senior quarterback Josh Hofer led Park City’s offense, throwing for 182 yards while completing 71.4% of his passes. He also rushed for a season-high 110 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.

Park City finished with 259 rushing yards in the win.

The Miners return home Friday, Sept. 11, to face Salem Hills, which enters the Region 8 matchup at 2-2.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Dozier Field. Park City School District has targeted the Salem Hills game for the reopening of Dozier Field. However, portions of the rebuilt stadium are expected to remain unfinished as construction continues into the fall.
