Police Log: Busy week for Search and Rescue, noise complaints, robbery arrest

Last week, Park City police and Summit County deputies assisted in the arrest of a robbery suspect near SR-224 and responded to a four-vehicle crash near Bonanza Drive and Kearns Boulevard. Officers also handled numerous noise complaints, wildlife calls involving moose and an entangled duck, and several traffic-related incidents.
Search and rescue teams responded to three backcountry emergencies during the week, assisting an injured mountain biker at Yellow Pine Trailhead and rescuing two hikers with serious leg injuries in the Uinta Mountains, including one who was airlifted by helicopter.
Monday, July 6
Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR responded to the Yellowpine Trailhead after a female mountain biker sustained a broken leg; she was located, brought back to the trailhead by SAR personnel, and transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Incident: Vagrancy
Police responded to a report of someone sleeping inside a private building on Three Kings Drive; it was unknown whether the person was male or female.
Incident: Hit and Run
A white SUV and a maroon SUV collided near E. Richardson Flat Road and Kearns Boulevard, possibly blocking the roadway; no injuries were reported.
Incident: Non-Injury Accident
A woman struck a trailer in a parking lot on Kearns Boulevard while driving a white Ford Edge.
Tuesday, July 7
Incident: Disturbing the Peace
Police received a complaint about a neighbor’s dog barking for roughly three hours on Park Avenue.
Incident: Suspicious Activity
A caller reported a blue tent set up at the Richardson Flat Park and Ride, suspecting someone might be squatting there, though no one was seen with it.
Incident: Disturbing the Peace
Police responded to a noise complaint near 13th Street and Woodside Avenue during a “Battle of the Bands” event that a caller believed exceeded allowed decibel levels.
Incident: Found Property
An unattended small blue purse-sized bag with black handles was found on the first floor of the Park City Library near the self-checkout stations.
Wednesday, July 8
Incident: Disturbing the Peace
A caller on North Main Street reported construction noise occurring around 2:30 a.m., possibly coming from a nearby tequila restaurant.
Incident: Non-Injury Accident
A four-vehicle accident occurred near Bonanza Drive and Kearns Boulevard by Alberto’s; the road was not blocked.
Incident: Wildlife Problem
Station 38 personnel responded to a report of a duck tangled in fishing line near the pond northeast of the station on Deer Valley Drive North.
Incident: Disturbing the Peace
A caller on Park Avenue reported about a dozen people on a nearby patio playing loud music late at night.
Thursday, July 9
Incident: Wildlife Problem
Two moose were seen preparing to cross the road near Squatters on Park Avenue but were not actively in the roadway.

Incident: Traffic Stop
A driver on Gillmor Way was warned for using his phone while driving.
Incident: Traffic Stop
Police stopped a vehicle near Empire Avenue and Silver King Drive after observing a juvenile passenger with arms and head outside the rear window, unrestrained by a seatbelt.
Incident: Citizen Assist
A resident near the dog park on Woodside Avenue reported ongoing issues with dog park visitors trespassing on his property to access water.
Incident: Suspicious Activity
A resident on Deer Valley Drive North reported a man who drove an SUV onto the grass and left it idling with its lights on for over an hour; no one was inside the vehicle.
Incident: Disturbing the Peace
A caller on Woodside Avenue reported loud music resembling a concert that was keeping the household awake.
Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR and Mounted Patrol were activated near the end of shift to assist an injured hiker near Dollar Lake in the Uinta Mountains.
Incident: Search and Rescue
SAR and Mounted Patrol responded to a hiker with a broken ankle at Henry’s Fork; the hiker was located and safely removed to the trailhead via DPS helicopter.
Saturday, July 11
Incident: Suspicious Activity
A resident on Three Kings Drive reported finding a howitzer shell under a neighbor’s porch while playing outside with her kids; she spoke with the neighbors, who are renters and did not plan to address it.
Incident: Traffic Stop
A driver on Park Avenue was stopped after failing to yield the right of way and nearly causing a collision while turning left.
Incident: Attempt to Locate
Police were alerted to a heavily intoxicated customer leaving a Snow Creek Drive business in a white lifted truck with a blue stripe.
Incident: Traffic Stop
Police conducted multiple traffic stops on Main Street for vehicles impeding traffic while picking up or dropping off rideshare passengers.
Incident: Agency Assist
Summit County deputies located and detained a robbery suspect near Old Ranch Road/SR-224 after an ATL was broadcast by South Salt Lake PD; the incident was turned over to SSLPD.
Sunday, July 12
Incident: Civil Problem
A rental property owner on Little Kate Road reported multiple complaints about dogs off-leash after witnessing the issue firsthand in the neighborhood.
Incident: Parking Problem
An Uber Eats driver was found parked in the bus pickup lane in front of the MARC on Little Kate Road.
Incident: Warrant Service
Deputies stopped a vehicle near MM158 on I-80 East for traffic violations and discovered the driver had active warrants; he was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail without incident.
