Police Log: Fireworks complaints, motorcycle chase, and stolen Home Depot trailer

The Fourth of July weekend kept Park City-area law enforcement busy with a couple fireworks complaints, a motorcycle pursuit, a DUI arrest involving methamphetamine, and noise complaints.

Elsewhere during the week, deputies and officers arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI after a traffic stop on S.R. 224, responded to the reported theft of a Home Depot trailer, and handled a mix of wildlife calls, property damage reports, and holiday traffic issues.

Monday, June 29

Incident: Wildlife
A caller reported a baby fawn struggling near Meadows Drive.

Incident: Unwanted person
A homeowner on Rising Star Lane reported confronting a man who entered the back of the property before police were called.

Incident: Citizen complaint
A resident on Meadows Drive reported four aggressive dogs barking throughout the day, saying they were too intimidated to walk to their mailbox.

Tuesday, June 30

Incident: Suspicious activity
Police received a report of two women yelling at each other outside a residence on Monitor Drive, with the caller concerned a fight or domestic dispute was about to occur.

Incident: Business assist
A man sitting outside the Marriott Summit Watch on Main Street was reported after remaining on the plaza for an extended period. Staff requested officers ask him to move along.

Incident: Citizen assist
A Meadows Drive resident reported someone had connected to their water line without permission, causing flooding in the street and blocking a driveway.

Incident: Business assist
Warehouse staff on North Forestdale Drive reported two vehicles and possible trespassers captured on security cameras late at night.

Wednesday, July 1

Incident: Parking problem
A dump trailer parked in front of a fire hydrant on Mountain Top Lane prevented Water Department crews from accessing it.

Incident: Non-reportable accident
Police responded to a minor fender bender on S.R. 248. No injuries were reported.

Incident: Wildlife
An injured baby hawk was reported on Kearns Boulevard.

Incident: Reckless driving
Two cement pump trucks were reported running through the brake check area on S.R. 224.

Incident: DUI
Deputies arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI following a speeding stop on S.R. 224 near Cove Canyon Drive.

Thursday, July 2

Incident: Traffic enforcement
Officers conducted targeted speed enforcement on Comstock Drive following neighborhood complaints, resulting in several traffic stops.

Incident: Wildlife
A moose was reported standing in the middle of the intersection at Old Highway 40 and S.R. 248, nearly entering highway traffic.

Incident: Auto theft
Deputies investigated the theft of a Home Depot trailer reported stolen overnight from the store’s parking lot. The trailer was entered into the national stolen vehicle database.

Friday, July 3

Incident: Wildlife
A caller reported a mother duck and ducklings attempting to cross Holiday Ranch Loop Road.

Incident: Hit and run
A parked vehicle sustained mirror damage in a hit-and-run sometime during the day on Seasons Drive.

Incident: Property damage
A Meadows Drive resident reported someone damaged a parked vehicle with what appeared to be a hammer.

Incident: Assault
A caller on Woodside Avenue reported being pushed to the ground during an altercation, suffering bruising to the back and elbow.

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A karaoke party was reported creating excessive noise near Mellow Mountain Road.

Incident: Drunk driving report
Just after midnight, a caller reported a friend was about to drive drunk after leaving a UTA parking lot and heading toward Guardsman Pass.

Incident: Hit and run
Deputies located and cited a driver accused of leaving the scene of a crash at the Mirror Lake Diner in Kamas. The vehicle was impounded.

Saturday, July 4

Incident: Parking problem
Several vehicles were reported triple-parked on Lowell Avenue, blocking another driver from leaving.

Incident: Utility
A water main break on Deer Valley Drive sent water flowing into a hotel lobby.

Incident: Fireworks
An officer stopped a person on Park Avenue shortly after reports they had set off fireworks.

Incident: Parking problem
A group playing games in a Park Avenue parking lot was reported for occupying multiple parking spaces.

Incident: Business assist
Hotel staff reported a man had climbed onto a building balcony and requested he be removed from the property.

Incident: Wildlife
An injured deer was reported in the median on S.R. 248 near Richardson Flat.

Incident: Fireworks complaint
Residents on Upper Iron Horse reported fireworks being set off repeatedly from nearby condominiums on Lower Iron Horse Loop.

Incident: DUI
Deputies arrested a driver in Kamas after discovering the vehicle displayed license plates belonging to another vehicle. The driver was also found impaired and in possession of methamphetamine.

Incident: Pursuit
A motorcyclist fled a traffic stop for speeding on S.R. 248, leading deputies through Kamas and Francis before the pursuit was terminated. The suspect was later apprehended in Wasatch County by Heber City Police and the Utah Highway Patrol.

Sunday, July 5

Incident: Business assist
Police responded after a woman inside a Main Street business restroom was reportedly unable or unwilling to get up.

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A late-night hot tub party on Fenchurch Drive prompted a noise complaint after reportedly continuing for several hours.

Incident: Traffic stop
A driver on Park Avenue was warned after an officer observed them using a cellphone while driving.

Incident: Civil problem
Hotel security at Montage Deer Valley requested law enforcement assistance after a guest was reportedly unable to pay their bill.
