PARK CITY, Utah — Indigenous artists, dancers, and designers will gather at Canyons Village this weekend as American Indian Services brings Native Market Days to Park City for the first time.
The two-day event, set for Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11, will feature an Indigenous art market, a hoop dance contest, and a fashion show at Canyons Village. American Indian Services describes Native Market Days as a cultural event centered on Native art, fashion, dance, storytelling, and community.
The Indigenous Art Market will be held in the Forum Tent from noon to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The market offers visitors a chance to meet and support Indigenous artists and entrepreneurs whose work is rooted in Native cultural traditions and contemporary creative practice.
The hoop dance contest will also take place at Canyons Village, running from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Hoop dancing is practiced by Indigenous people across the United States and Canada, utilizing movement, rhythm, and circular forms to tell stories and honor tradition, according to event information posted by NowPlayingUtah.
The weekend will close with an Indigenous Fashion Show at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Kokopelli Ballroom at the Grand Summit Hotel. Seating is limited, and organizers encourage guests to arrive early.
American Indian Services, based in Lehi, supports Native American and Alaska Native students through college and trade school scholarships and educational programs. The organization says its scholarship program helps Native students attend college, maintain enrollment, and graduate.
Native Market Days is part celebration, part community gathering, and part economic support for Native artists. The event brings together Native and non-Native community members in a public setting designed to elevate Indigenous voices, creativity and cultural expression.
