Where to celebrate the Fourth of July in the Wasatch Back this year

WASATCH BACK, Utah — With a state-wide ban on fireworks in place through the Fourth of July, state and local leaders are encouraging residents to celebrate differently this year.

Summit County has instituted Stage 1 fire restrictions and fireworks for the past years, so residents are already used to celebrating locally with fire-safe options.

Park City

Park City’s annual Fourth of July Parade returns to Old Town, with a special focus this year on America250 Utah, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. The day starts with a 5K fun run in support of Park City Ski & Snowboard at 8 a.m., continues with the parade down Historic Main Street at 11 a.m. There will be events in City Park throughout the day and a drone show at 10 p.m. at Park City Mountain.

City staff said residents should expect road closures and parking restrictions in Old Town throughout the day. The City encourages everyone to bike, walk, or take free public transit to celebrations.

Roads will close from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with no parking from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., along:

  • Park Avenue, from SR-224 to Heber Avenue
  • Main Street
  • 9th Street, from Park to Main
  • Heber Avenue
  • Swede Alley surface lots

City Park has no parking from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Heber City

Heber City will once again host the Red, White, and Blue Festival. Highlights include live music, a pickleball tournament, free hotdogs at Main Street Park, and pie-eating and rootbeer-guzzling competitions.

Thursday, July 2: Heber Market on Main
Friday, July 3: Live concert with headliner, American Soldier, a tribute to Toby Keith
Saturday, July 4: 5K and a 10K Main-to-Main run/walk, pancake breakfast, flag ceremony, patriotic walk, and parade.
