Park City to host celebration at McPolin Barn for Historic Preservation Month

Park City, Utah — Park City Municipal is inviting residents to the McPolin Barn on Friday, May 8, for a Historic Preservation Celebration aimed at highlighting local efforts to protect the community’s history and character.

The event, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m., is an outdoor open house held in recognition of Historic Preservation Month and will bring together a range of preservation partners from across the region.

Participants are expected to include Friends of Ski Mountain Mining History, Friends of the Farm, the Park City Museum, Preservation Utah, and the Utah State Historic Preservation Office.

Attendees will be able to visit partner booths, share feedback on city preservation initiatives, and enjoy live music from DJ Silver King. Food and beverages will also be available.

Friends of the Farm volunteers will offer short tours of the historic McPolin Barn during the event, and a community memory station will give residents the opportunity to share personal connections to Park City’s past. The station will include a video booth where visitors can record stories or memories tied to local landmarks and history.

Anyone with historical materials they’d like to share — such as photos, plats, maps, or other documents — can email a copy to planning@parkcity.gov ahead of the event or bring it to the celebration.

Organizers are encouraging sustainable transportation options, including walking, biking, or using public transit. Free parking and shuttle service will be available from the North Marsac Lot at City Hall and the surface lot at 1420 Munchkin Road from 3:30 to 7 p.m. A bike valet will also be provided on site.

The event is free and open to the public. RSVP for the Historic Preservation Celebration.
