Kimball Junction library invites community to mark Richins Building memories before PEAK Center move

Summit County Library will host a June 9 memory-sharing event as the Kimball Junction branch prepares to close one chapter and move into its new home up the street.

KIMBALL JUNCTION, Utah — Before the Kimball Junction branch of the Summit County Library moves into its new home at the PEAK Center, library staff are inviting the community to help mark the end of an era at the Richins Building.

The library will host a memory-sharing event on June 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Richins Building, where residents are encouraged to share favorite library memories from the past 25 years.

For many Summit County residents, the Richins Building has been more than a place to check out books. It has served as a gathering place, study space, children’s storytime destination, public meeting hub, and quiet community anchor in the center of Kimball Junction.

“Before the Kimball Junction branch of the Summit County Library moves up the street to the PEAK Center, we’d love for you to share your favorite library memories with us,” the library said in its announcement. “Help us celebrate the past and write a storybook ending for this chapter.”

The move comes as Summit County prepares to open the PEAK Center, a new civic and recreation facility intended to bring together public services, community gathering spaces, and recreation amenities in the Snyderville Basin. The new center is expected to become a major community hub near Kimball Junction, with the library branch among the public services relocating there.

The June 9 event is intended to give patrons a chance to reflect on the Richins Building’s role in local life before the library begins its next chapter.

Residents may stop by anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to share stories, memories, or moments connected to the Kimball Junction branch. The event will be held at the Richins Building, 1885 W. Ute Blvd. in Park City.
