SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Summit County is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission, a volunteer body that reviews land-use proposals across one of the county’s most rapidly developing areas.
The commission evaluates development applications in the Snyderville Basin and recommends approval or denial based on the Snyderville Basin Development Code and related governing documents. It also helps draft or direct amendments to the general plan, zoning regulations, and subdivision rules.
Recent TownLift reporting has followed the Snyderville Basin Planning Commission through several high-profile land-use debates, including its review of the proposed Junction Commons redevelopment at Outlets Park City, where questions around affordable housing, traffic and compliance with the Snyderville Basin General Plan took center stage. The commission has also weighed major proposals tied to the Utah Olympic Park and other large-scale development questions in Kimball Junction and eastern Summit County, underscoring its role as a key advisory body in shaping growth across the basin.
Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
To be eligible, applicants must have lived within the Snyderville Basin Planning District for at least one year. County code limits membership so that no more than two commissioners may reside within Park City limits.
The seat opened through the county’s standard process when a commissioner’s term expired. Summit County said the outgoing member is eligible to reapply.
Interested residents must submit an online application by 5 p.m. Monday, April 21.
