HEBER CITY, Utah — Black Rock Mountain Resort’s signature restaurant, Overlook, is welcoming the season with a refreshed menu, a few showstopping new dishes, and a special Easter brunch worth planning around.
Chef Ernesto, the creative force behind Overlook’s kitchen, has always drawn on both local roots and global inspiration. That philosophy is on full display this spring, with a menu that balances familiar comfort with unexpected twists.
Easter brunch: April 5
Before diving into the full spring menu, there is one more date to circle on the calendar. On Easter Sunday, Overlook is hosting an Easter Brunch buffet from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Priced at $79 per adult and $35 for children ages 5 to 12, with children under 5 dining free, the buffet features an omelet station, a carving station, prime rib with au jus and creamy horseradish sauce, oven-roasted boneless pit ham with honey mustard, pina colada pancakes, French toast and Tres Leches. Reservations are available through OpenTable.

A breakfast dish born from one unforgettable bite
One of the most talked-about additions to the brunch menu is the tres leches pancakes, and the story behind them is exactly the kind of thing that makes Chef Ernesto’s cooking feel personal.
“After trying a memorable tres leches cake at a restaurant, I wanted to bring those same rich, milky flavors into a breakfast dish that feels both comforting and a little unexpected,” he said.
The result is a plate of fluffy pancakes finished with a tres leches sauce that manages to feel indulgent without being heavy. It is already a guest favorite.
New dishes worth the trip
On the lunch side, Chef Ernesto is introducing shrimp tops, a creative appetizer featuring potato skins loaded with shrimp, cheddar cheese, green onions and a bright lemon aioli. It is the kind of dish that sounds simple until you start thinking about it, and then you cannot stop thinking about it.
For something to share, the new birthday waffle is an event in itself. Priced at $25 and designed for four people, the dessert features two waffles made from birthday cake batter, topped with frosting, ice cream and candy. Whether or not there is an actual birthday at the table, it is the kind of finish to a meal that people will talk about.
Weekday specials that keep things interesting
Overlook is also rolling out rotating lunch specials Monday through Thursday, giving regulars a reason to come back throughout the week.
Meatless Monday brings a vegan sloppy joe with crispy fries for $17. Taco Tuesday, at $14, offers two tacos and a side, with the flavors changing each week so no two Tuesdays are the same. Wednesday is pizza and a side salad for $21. Thursday rounds out the week with a rotating steak fry for $18, which has already seen a countryside steak variation that guests loved.
Dinner specials, meanwhile, are created daily and kept as a surprise. The kitchen has full creative freedom, and it shows.
Honoring local partners
Overlook has long been committed to sourcing locally, and the spring menu continues that tradition. Heber Valley Meat and Park City Creamery dairy products are featured throughout, including in the acorn squash, pomegranate, and kale salad, a signature dish staying on the menu for good reason. The salad brings together caramelized acorn squash, roasted corn, Park City Creamery feta and a pomegranate vinaigrette.
