HEBER CITY, Utah — Black Rock Mountain Resort’s Onyx Club is partnering with two local health and performance experts for its June Speaker Series event, “Longevity, simplified: What actually moves the needle for your health.” The free, community-open event will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Black Rock Mountain Resort in Heber City.
The discussion brings together Dr. Timothy Duerler of Ovation Private Health and Connor Darnbrough, co-founder of The Smart Fit Method, two respected local voices in longevity, health and performance. Designed to cut through the noise surrounding wellness trends, the conversation will focus on the four pillars of longevity- sleep, exercise, nutrition, and stress management and how attendees can apply evidence-based strategies to improve daily performance, vitality, and long-term health. Brief presentations from each speaker will be followed by a Q&A, and attendees are encouraged to come with questions.
For Darnbrough, the event is a chance to reframe what longevity actually means.
“When most people hear ‘longevity,’ they think about living longer,” Darnbrough said. “I am looking forward to sharing insights with the community about training their bodies to live better. Exercise is one of the most powerful tools for longevity because it builds and preserves the strength, cardiovascular fitness, muscle mass, mobility and metabolic health that naturally decline with age. Longevity is not just about adding years to your life. It is about maintaining the physical capacity, energy and independence to fully enjoy those years.”
Darnbrough will share the story behind The Smart Fit Method, a science-driven training system he developed after overcoming severe injuries and rebuilding strength following a professional skiing career. The approach, used by elite athletes and seniors alike, emphasizes efficient, sustainable training designed to improve resilience, recovery and long-term physical performance.
Duerler, who brings more than 20 years of experience in family medicine, now runs Ovation Private Health, a concierge medicine practice in Park City focused on proactive, prevention-based care. He said the goal is to help people stay active, not just alive.
“Most people are not just trying to live longer; they want to keep skiing, hiking, traveling, working and enjoying life with energy and independence,” Duerler said. “I’m looking forward to helping attendees cut through the noise around longevity and focus on the habits, assessments and tools that actually support healthier aging.”
His practice centers on helping patients preserve vitality, cognitive function and quality of life through personalized, data-informed care.
Onyx Club Director of Fitness Tina Polmateer said the Speaker Series was created to give the community practical tools they can use right away.
“We created the Onyx Club’s monthly Speaker Series to bring the community together through conversations that are meaningful, inspiring and genuinely useful in everyday life,” Polmateer said. “Whether the conversation is about optimizing health, managing stress, improving performance or building healthier habits, we want guests to leave with practical tools and insights they can actually apply in real life. With longevity being such a hot topic, we are privileged to have local thought leaders Dr. Duerler and Connor Darnbrough share their knowledge with the community at our next event.”
