PARK CITY, Utah — The NCAA announced Tuesday that the 2026 National Collegiate Ski Championships will be relocated to Utah, bringing the country’s top collegiate alpine and Nordic skiers to Park City and Midway this March.
The championships will take place March 11–14, with alpine events held at the Utah Olympic Park at the Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center, and Nordic races at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center.
The event was previously scheduled to be hosted by Montana State University, but the NCAA made the decision to relocate after determining that insufficient snowfall in the Bozeman area made it difficult to prepare race venues, despite extensive efforts by organizers.
While the location has shifted, the competition schedule remains the same:
- March 11: Giant slalom
- March 12: 7.5K classic interval start
- March 13: Slalom
- March 14: 20K freestyle mass start
The relocation adds another major collegiate championship to Utah’s winter sports calendar. Utah had already been selected to host the 2028 NCAA Ski Championships, and with Tuesday’s announcement, the state will now host both the 2026 and 2028 meets. Vermont is slated to host in 2027.
Park City and Midway are no strangers to high-level competition, with both venues regularly hosting World Cup and international events. With encouraging snow forecasts for the coming weeks, the move ensures championship-caliber snow conditions and infrastructure for student-athletes competing for NCAA titles.
Additional details about tickets, team qualifications and event schedules are expected to be released by the NCAA in the coming weeks.
This comes after the Freestyle World Cup events scheduled for Deer Valley Resort in mid January were moved to venues on the east coast after unseasonably warm weather limited snow conditions.
