Jessie Diggins documentary ‘Threshold’ set for Feb. 23 premiere

PARK CITY, Utah — As U.S. cross-country skier Jessie Diggins pushes through the midpoint of her Olympic competition schedule, a new documentary chronicling her life beyond the racecourse is set to debut after the closing ceremony.
“Threshold,” a feature-length documentary centered on Diggins, who is the most decorated American cross-country skier in history and a three-time Olympic medalist, will premiere on NBC’s Peacock on Feb. 23, just after the conclusion of the Olympic cross-country skiing events.
Diggins regularly trains in Park City with the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Team, making the community a familiar base as she competes on the world’s biggest stage.
The film offers an intimate look at her journey off the snow, including her experience with an eating disorder and how seeking professional support reshaped both her career and her life. Filmed by Torsten and Lars Brinkema and executive produced by actor Patrick Dempsey, the documentary follows Diggins throughout the 2023–24 World Cup season with unprecedented access.
“Eating disorders have so much stigma, shame, and guilt attached to them, and they are often misunderstood,” Diggins said. “I felt it was important to show my story so openly because without that, it’s hard to ask for change, and I wanted to help others feel less alone.”
The documentary explores themes of vulnerability, recovery, and resilience, highlighting the pressures elite athletes face and the importance of mental health support in high-performance sport. Diggins reflects on how professional care helped guide her recovery and enabled her to continue competing at the highest level.
“I hope it sparks conversations around mental health and eating disorders and removes the stigma,” Diggins said. “I hope that people who are struggling feel less alone and more empowered to ask for help.”
Diggins added another medal to her historic career Thursday, claiming bronze in the women’s 10k skate. The result marked her fourth career Olympic medal and the first Olympic medal ever won by an American in the 10k event.
Cross-country skiing competition runs through Sunday, Feb. 22, with Diggins expected to compete in several events.
- Women’s 4×7.5km Relay: Saturday, Feb.14
- Women’s Team Sprint Free: Wednesday, Feb. 18
- Women’s 50km Mass Start Classic: Sunday, Feb. 22
Threshold will be available to stream on Peacock beginning Feb. 23, following what Diggins has said will be the final Olympic Games of her career.
