WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah — On Monday, Feb. 17, a father and son were rescued from the Red Mountain area of Snow Canyon State Park. Utah’s Department of Public Safety released the video of the rescue on the following day.
According to Fox 13, Julian Hernandez and his 12-year-old son set out for a hike near Snow Canyon State Park on Sunday but were reported missing after failing to return. Search and rescue teams were deployed around 7 p.m.
The pair were stranded overnight and attributed their survival to their rescuers and a chance encounter with a discarded backpack filled with food, water, emergency blankets and other supplies.
