Snowbird’s Gad Valley is getting big upgrades
SNOWBIRD, Utah – There’s been a lot going on in Snowbird’s Gad Valley this summer. A complete overhaul of the Mid Gad restaurant located at the top of the Gad Zoom lift at Snowbird is well underway, and a new fixed-grip quad will be operational this season.
Mid Gad Restaurant: At the close of the 2024 season, crews started demolition on the 50-plus-year-old building. A recent video posted to Snowbird’s social media account shows just how quickly the building was demolished. It took 130 truckloads to haul the debris down to the Gad Valley base area, where it was separated into different material containers to either be disposed of or recycled.

After that, most of the summer was spent pouring concrete and starting the steelwork. “We’re going to continue working during the ski season and hit it hard through the spring and have the building complete by the end of summer 2025,” Nima Mahak, Snowbird’s senior director of village operations, said.
“I think our guests are going to really love the mid-mountain experience. We’re going to have a nice ski beach. We’ve got a huge outdoor deck with fire pits, and the restaurant itself has really incredible views down the canyon and up the canyon.”
Wilbere Lift: Snowbird’s original Wilbere Lift, a fixed-grip double chair installed for the mountain’s opening in 1971, has been replaced with a fixed-grip quad chairlift to increase uphill capacity. The loading station, featuring a conveyor belt loading system, has moved from its current location on Creek Road to the Creekside base area near the Bryce Astle Training Center, making the chair more accessible from parking lots. The top station will remain near its current area, accessing the same terrain.
