Ice Castles to light up midway with new enchanting fire shows
MIDWAY, Utah – The Ice Castles, a popular winter attraction known for its frozen tunnels, caverns, and towers, will return to Soldier Hollow Nordic Center this winter with a new addition: nightly fire shows. The combination of ice and fire, a fresh element for this season, is expected to draw visitors after sunset, adding a striking visual to the ice structures.
“We are excited to return to Utah, where the magic started years ago, to create an enchanting experience for our guests,” said Ice Castles CEO Kyle Standifird. “Our team is eager to craft something truly unique in Midway, along with a clash of fire and ice as flames dance amidst the Ice Castles backdrop.”
The attraction, built entirely from ice and illuminated by color-changing LED lights, offers visitors a winter setting with horse-drawn sleigh rides and ice slides. Construction is set to begin in late October, with a team of around 20 ice artisans working on the project. The opening date will depend on weather conditions, typically falling in late December or early January, and the attraction is expected to remain open until mid-to-late February.
In addition to the Midway location, Ice Castles will operate in four other states: Minnesota, New Hampshire, and two locations in Colorado. Tickets for peak season will go on sale November 26, 2024, through the Ice Castles website.
Founded in 2011 by Brent Christensen, Ice Castles began as a backyard project in Alpine, Utah, and has since become a well-known winter attraction across North America.
