Police Log: suspect with ICE warrant caught fleeing traffic stop, found with stolen credit cards in Summit County

Saturday, August 10

Assault

Deputies investigated a suspicious situation where the complainant reported hearing a female calling for help and saw a white sedan leaving the scene. They tracked down the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The female driver, who had visible fresh facial injuries, confessed to being assaulted but refused to give any information about the suspect. Medical personnel arrived and treated her. The suspect was neither identified nor found.

DUI

Deputies initiated a traffic stop after noticing a stop light violation on the I-80 Westbound on-ramp. During their interaction with the driver, signs of impairment were evident. Field sobriety tests were administered, and the driver did not perform well on any of them. He was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, along with several other traffic-related offenses.

Monday, August 12

Injury Accident

Deputies were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover accident on private property at Upper Evergreen Drive. The driver, who was backing down a steep driveway, lost control and rolled off the side. Both the driver and an adult female passenger were rescued by EMS and taken to Park City Hospital for an injury evaluation. The vehicle was towed by Park City Tow.

Tuesday, August 13

Injury Accident

Deputies arrived at the scene of an injury accident involving a motorcycle and a passenger car at Highland and Center Drive. The motorcycle collided with the driver’s side of the car after the car, which had initially moved to the right, abruptly returned to its lane while the motorcycle was attempting to pass. The motorcycle rider was taken to Park City Hospital with minor injuries. The passenger car was impounded due to lack of registration and insurance, and the driver was cited for these violations. Both vehicles were towed by Park City Tow.

Thursday, August 15

Possession of Narcotics

During a traffic stop near the Kimball Junction Chevron, a K9 alert led to a vehicle search that uncovered a small quantity of narcotics and related paraphernalia. After further investigation, the passenger was arrested.

Friday, August 16

Public Intoxication, Warrant of Arrest

Deputies were called to handle a combative unwanted person at the Sundial Lodge. Upon arrival, they found the suspect extremely intoxicated. The suspect refused to provide identification, began yelling profanity in public, and created a disturbance. The suspect was arrested, medically cleared, and then taken to the Summit County Jail.

Sunday, August 17

Warrant of Arrest, False Information provided to Police

During a traffic stop for a violation at Mister Carwash, the driver provided deputies with a false name. While a records check was being performed, the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies quickly apprehended him near the Chevron station. Using a fingerprint scanner, the suspect was identified and found to have an active NCIC warrant from ICE for aggravated re-entry. A search of his belongings uncovered numerous credit cards not registered to him. It was later confirmed that the credit card owner, a Summit County resident, had been a victim of fraud and had lost his wallet several weeks earlier.

Sunday, August 18

DUI

The North Summit Fire District pulled up to a vehicle when they observed the driver slumped over the steering wheel and appearing distressed. The male, who was the only occupant, was found sleeping with a beer in his hand. The driver failed the sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI. He was then transported to the Summit County Jail.

Retail Theft

Deputies were informed of a theft at the Polo Ralph Lauren Store, where two suspects stole over $1,600 worth of clothing. The suspects exited the store, and the theft was reported a few hours later. Store employees provided surveillance photos of the suspects. Although the case will be closed due to insufficient information on the suspects, the photos will be posted on the crime bulletin.

DUI

Deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on White Pine Canyon Road, where the vehicle had veered off the road, crashed through a fence, and ended up in the bushes. The driver was found walking up the road toward Canyons Resort. It was determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, and he was arrested for DUI. The suspect was booked into the Summit County Jail without incident.
