Park City Chamber reports slight drop in June bookings, optimistic about summer recovery
Jennifer Wesselhoff, President & CEO of the Park City Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, shared insights on the current state of tourism in Park City and the outlook for the upcoming summer season
PARK CITY, Utah — In an interview with Jennifer Wesselhoff, president and CEO of the Park City Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, Wesselhoff shared insights on the current state of tourism in Park City and the outlook for the upcoming summer season.
As of May 31, June occupancy stood at 31%, slightly down by 6% compared to the same time last year. However, Wesselhoff remains optimistic about the coming months. “Rates are rebounding by about 8%, and while pace is off by about 4%, overall, we’re looking to be on par with last summer,” she said.
Looking forward, the Chamber’s latest marketing campaign, Mountainkind, aims to attract responsible visitors. The campaign includes digital ads, social media, and strategic partnerships with TripAdvisor and Expedia for key markets such as Los Angeles, Seattle, Denver, San Francisco, and New York.
Highlighting efforts to maintain Main Street buoyancy this summer, Wesselhoff mentioned, “We have a lot of events that draw in visitors, including the Kimbell Arts Festival and Park Silly Market.”
Despite slight decreases in June bookings compared to last year, Wesselhoff remains positive about the season’s outlook, citing short-term booking trends since COVID-19. “I do anticipate that we will recover with in-month and bookings closer to those months,” she said.
In addition to boosting tourism, the Chamber provides local businesses with daily occupancy reports to help them plan staffing and supplies.
With various summer events and the introduction of the Mountainkind campaign, Park City is gearing up for a vibrant and busy season. “It’s going to be a great summer,” Wesselhoff concluded.
